Peace at Blarney

My experience at Blarney Castle was one of my favorites during this trip. Going into the West and more specifically the castle I didn't know what to expect. The stairs were numerous and slippery, the "railing" was a thick rope and at one point the stairs felt like a never-ending spiral. When I got to the top, the wait wasn't very long, and I wasn't nervous. Sure, I was high up, and a stranger was about to dangle me off the side of a castle, but I was excited for a new experience. I had one mission when I arrived there and that was to kiss the stone to get the gift of gab which I may have already possessed previously to this trip. However, many years prior, before I was even born my great grampa kissed the Blarney stone. I was able to feel connected to him in yet another way in this beautiful country.

"And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes from dropping slow" (5). I've mentioned "The Lake Isle of Innisfree" in a past post but this line connects perfectly to how I felt in the moment at Blarney Castle. I felt content in that moment, no fears, no worries, I was in other words at peace. To be a bit more literal, I was also in a sense also being dropped slow as I kissed the stone. I commemorated the moment for my grandma, and I'll always have the memories and emotions that went along with this moment in the West.
